People / Anna Maria Feit

Hi, I am Anna. I am a Tenure-Track Professor (W2) in Computer Science at Saarland University, where I lead the Computational Interaction Group. My research explores how computational methods can help us better understand and optimize the way people interact with digital systems. By combining behavioral data, predictive modeling, and interface design, my work aims to make interactive systems more adaptive, efficient, and human-centered.

I received my PhD from Aalto University under the supervision of Antti Oulasvirta. My dissertation received the ACM SIGCHI Outstanding Dissertation Award and contributed to the development of the new French keyboard standard, officially adopted and produced in 2019. During my PhD, I also worked with Merrie Morris and the Enable Group at Microsoft Research on eye tracking for augmentative and alternative communication. Before joining Saarland University, I was a postdoctoral researcher in the Advanced Interactive Technologies Lab of Otmar Hilliges at ETH Zurich.

I regularly serve as an Area Chair for ACM CHI and review for leading journals and conferences in HCI, but also psychology, and cognitive science. Beyond research, it is of great importance to me that I contribute to a supportive and inclusive academic environment. I served as Family Chair at CHI 2023 and actively participate in initiatives promoting women in academia and human-computer interaction. I also enjoy spending time with my family (I have two children), being in nature, and doing manual activities such as knitting, baking, or doodling.
