Description:

Word suggestions are widely used when people type on mobile devices, yet most existing research and commercial designs are primarily based on English. German, however, differs substantially from English in terms of morphology, compound word formation, and word length, which may fundamentally change how users perceive, rely on, and interact with word suggestions during mobile text entry.
The goal of this project is to investigate how users interact with and make use of word suggestions when typing in German on mobile devices. The project involves collecting and analyzing behavioral data (keystroke logs and eye-tracking data) from designed typing tasks in German, with a focus on suggestion usage strategies and checking behavior. The findings will be compared to existing results from English-based studies to identify language-specific patterns in word suggestion usage.
Requirements:
- Native speaker of German
- Very good programming skills (Web-based, Python)
- Experience or strong interest in conducting empirical user studies and data analysis
